A note to my friend....

I know you've been through HELL lately and for that I'm sorry. I wish there was something I could do. In time, I know they will pinpoint what is going on, and some of our questions will finally have answers. Oh how I wish they'd figure that out soon and make you better. Why does it seem like bad things always happen to really good people. Life sometimes isn't fair and lately it has just SUCKED. At times I feel helpless since I'm so far away, I wish I was closer to help out. God, I can think of a hundered things I could do if I was closer, but I'm not. I can only sit here miles away and hope and pray for the best. Remember... I'm always here if you need me anytime day or night. Get well soon my friend!

Love ya!

Date with Tim & Faith

Tomorrow night I have a date with Tim & Faith. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill that is! I can't wait! This time tomorrow night, I'll be watching two of my favorite country singers in concert. Last year my husband and I saw them....and I'd have to say that was one of the BEST concerts EVER. The concert was almost 4 hours LONG, and they must of sang every song they've ever recorded. Both of us walked out saying WOW!!! From what I hear this year's concert will be even BETTER. Hard to believe they'll be able to top what they did last year.....I can't wait!!!!

The best phone call I received yesterday!

As I was working yesterday, trying to cross off another thing on my “To Do” list, I received a phone call…..

Me: “company name, Laurie speaking.”
Voice: “HI!!!”
Me: Hi…??? (Thinking who the hell is this?)
Voice “HI!!!!!!”
Me: OH MY GOD!!!!!…. I’m so happy to hear from you... (I probably said a lot of other nonsense, but can’t remember what I said as I was almost in tears.)

It was my one of my best friends. For the past three weeks she has been in the hospital in very serious condition. When I say serious, I mean SERIOUS!!!! So you can only imagine how happy I was to hear her voice. It hadn’t talked with her since the 8th, and when I spoke to her then she was extremely weak… BUT…now she’s doing MUCH, MUCH better, and has a clean bill of health. This is truly amazing considering everything that she went through! A true miracle if you ask me… All of our prayers were answered

I’m so thankful she’s doing better. I can’t wait till the next time I see her to give her a BIG hug, sit and talk for hours and have a few glasses of wine and celebrate. She’s a wonderful person and a dear, dear friend. I’m very blessed and honored to be able to call her my friend.

That phone call was the best call I’ve received in a long, long time…

I know as she reads this she’s probably saying…. “Stop it…”

Nope I won’t.

Love ya!!! ; )

Race Weekend

This weekend is the Big Race weekend in Dover Downs for NASCAR. Okay, I’ll admit it, I am a fan (don’t think any less of me, please). I’ve been to a few races myself, but prefer to stay at home, and watch them go around and around. As I was driving into work this morning, I saw the parade of RV’s driving southbound on Route 1, making their way to Dover. When I mean parade, I’m not kidding…there had to be an RV or two in every 10 cars that I passed! It was crazy!

When NASCAR comes to town, traffic is usually HELL! If there is something that you need to get, and it requires you to travel southbound, you better get it before Saturday morning. Good luck to you if you need to go out Saturday and Sunday morning, before the race. Folks usually stay home and get their “Honey Do” list done that weekend. Delaware is a small state as it is, and traffic is a nightmare on a good day, but when you add the traffic of all the race fans, it’s 10 times worse.

So as I passed all of the weekend warriors heading to their perfect party spot, it hit me. All of these RV’s that I’m passing now will be heading northbound Monday morning. At that moment, I remembered how much I hated when NASCAR comes to town. The Monday morning after race weekend is pure HELL for anyone that has to drive northbound. Your commute time doubles because of all of the lovely RV’s heading back home, or up to POCONO raceway…It’s insane!!! I’m so happy race weekend only comes around twice a year.

Anxiety Attacks

For about a week or so now, I’ve had a few anxiety attacks. I feel like I’m having an asthma attack, but I’m not. I learned to recognize the difference between the two a few years back when I was at the peak of my depression. They aren’t as bad as I remember them to be, but I guess I know how to recognize and control them this time around. I’m fully aware of why they are happening. My mind won’t shut off. It is consistently going 100 mph thinking of the things that I need to do. I can’t seem to relax , and enjoy myself. It’s to the point that I’m annoyed with myself that I can’t just sit and enjoy watching a TV show. My husband keeps asking me if “I’m having fun yet, and that I need to smile.” I’m trying.. I really am…. If my mind would just shut off for just a little while.. then maybe I could have fun and smile. I keep telling myself...Deep breaths, this will pass. I hope it happens soon.

One of my favorite quotes

Not long after Jamie passed away, I came across a quote that would stay with me forever.

I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again.
- William Penn

I came across this quote on a Boyd’s Bear Box (they are collectibles bear figurines). I think I saw it first at Christmas the year he passed away, a gift most likely from my parents. I was so moved by it, that I ripped the quote for the box and kept it with me.

I try my best to live by this quote, and do right by people. I know there are times that I can be a real Bitch, but what women isn’t from time to time. I care about my family and friends and will do anything for them. I learned a great lesson from my brother and this quote. We get one shot at this journey called life…you have to make the best of it!

His Eyes

Yesterday, I had lunch with my husband. We were sitting and waiting for our food and talking. Greg was talking about his day and what he was working on at work. For the first time in a long time, I really looked into his eyes. His Big BLUE eyes. Sure I make eye contact with him everyday, but never really LOOKED at them. They are beautiful, he is beautiful. He cares some much for everyone around him. He’s a gentle giant that would do anything for anyone. He keeps a lot of things bottled up in side of him that I wish he would say, but he doesn’t. He lives by the “if you have nothing nice to say, then don’t say it at all rule”. Which drives me crazy sometimes, because…well, sometimes things just need to be said. He’s never been a big talker, so it amazes me that he married me, because I LOVE to talk. Greg is genuine, he’s real, he’s kind, he’s smart…I could go on and on… He’s my husband, and I love him.

Eric's Graduation

My brother-in-law is graduating from college on Saturday. Tomorrow we'll fly down to Florida for a mini vacation. I can't wait! Words can't describe how proud I am of Eric. The kid that everyone thought would probably stay home and go to a local college here in Delaware. Packed up his stuff 4 years ago...moved to Florida without knowing anyone, and really has never looked back since.

Congratulations E! You've shocked a lot of people!!!! You did it!

Our 3 Year Anniversary

Yesterday was our 3 year Anniversary! I can hardly believe it. It seems like yesterday I was getting ready for one of the biggest days of my life. The day I would marry the love of my life and my best friend! Though we have been married for 3 years, we've been together for 11 years. It's amazing how we've grown as individuals and as a couple. I love my husband more today then I ever have.
